Advanced development of integrated optics allows this planar optical splitter - PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) splitter - to combine an incredibly small size, the widest bandwidth covering the entire operating range, the best characteristics for this type of devices, as well as high reliability and stability of operation at any external conditions. Optical PLC splitters are designed to split one input signal into several output signals or combine several signals.
PLC splitters are made by depositing a waveguide layer (silicon dioxide) on a silicon substrate, then a ribbon fiber is welded to the resulting chip. Thereby to this technology, they can combine heat resistance, miniature size and a wide operating wavelength range.
Planar PLC splitter PLC-116-A-SC/APC-9-SC/APC-15 type 1*16 has one input cable with SC/APC connector and sixteen output cables with SC/APC connectors as well.
The body of this PLC splitter is a metal tube. Tube size is 60*12*4 mm.
The PLC-116-A-SC/APC-9-SC/APC-15 splitter uses a cable with a diameter of 0.9 mm, a length of 1.5 m. Cable fiber is G657A, the cable sheath is made of LSZH material, characterized by low smoke emission in case of fire, and the absence of halogen toxic gases.
